The Grid Gets Greener
Inside the sustainability track, where infrastructure people argued about megawatts instead of mission statements.

The sustainability track had a different texture from the rest of the programme. Fewer slides, more spreadsheets, and a room full of people who measure success in megawatt-hours rather than mission statements.
Infrastructure, not intention
The opening panel set the tone by refusing to discuss pledges at all. Instead the conversation went straight to interconnection queues, transformer lead times, and the deeply unfashionable question of who pays for grid upgrades that take a decade to deliver.
Several operators made the same point independently: the bottleneck has moved. Generation is no longer the hard part. Getting electrons from where they are made to where they are needed, through equipment that is ordered years in advance, is where the schedule actually lives.
The number worth remembering
Roughly two thirds of the projects discussed were waiting on physical equipment rather than capital or permission. That ratio reframes almost every conversation about how quickly this transition can move.
